Tension? It depends on the team.

What happens when you bring a team together with bows and arrows for a lovely afternoon at the local archery club?
Exactly! You quickly realise that it’s not quite as easy as it looks.
You need concentration, good posture, inner balance – and, of course, the right amount of tension. And then you aim and let go.
Mal trifft der Pfeil zeimlich genau und mal ist er eher unter dem Motto „interessante Flugbahn“ unterwegs. Aber ganz egal, wo er landet: Wir hatten jede Menge Spaß!
Sometimes the arrow hits pretty much exactly where you want it to. And sometimes it takes what you might call an “interesting flight path”. But wherever it lands: we had a great time!
An experience like this brings a team together in a completely different way than being in the office, at the workbench or working on the next project. It’s great to have your colleagues alongside you, cheering you on, getting excited about every hit and celebrating it just as much as you do.
Not just working together, but experiencing something together, too – that’s exactly hat team events like this are all about for us.
Archery and our day-to-day work definitely have something in common: staying focused, sticking with it together – and enjoying the result.
The only difference was that this time, nobody was looking at a drawing, a system or a screen, but at a target. But the joy of hitting the target is just as great as the satisfaction of successfully completing a project.

And then there was the matter of getting the rope tension right …
That naturally caught our attention – we know a thing or two about that!
In archery, the bowstring is placed under tension as the bow is drawn. When the string is released, the stored energy is transferred to the arrow, sending it towards the target. So it’s all about getting several factors to work together.
With our electronic rope balancers, the objective is of course quite different. Here, it’s all about moving loads in a controlled, safe and precise way.
For this to work, the interaction between the rope, drive system, load and control system has to be right. And the correct rope tension is part of that, too.
We got to experience that for ourselves during our afternoon of archery. With our rope balancers, it’s simply part of what we deal with every day.
In the end, it wasn’t about who hit the target most accurately. It was about trying something new together, cheering each other on, having a laugh and simply spending an afternoon together away from our usual working routine.

And it’s exactly these kinds of experiences that bring a team even closer together.
A big thank you to SGi Ebersbach for a great afternoon, the excellent guidance and all the new experiences. We’ll be back!
